Objectives

By the end of the programme participants should be able to:

  • An action plan for a specific period of time in the future
  • Responsibility for own success or failure
  • Defined real life actions separated from just wishful thinking
  • Encouragement to set priorities, therefore limit the time to get involved with distracting things

  • Help to visualise and plan actions to achieve goals and the steps to carry them out

Programme title: Assertiveness Skills training

Course Aims

  • To enable participants to understand what assertive behaviour is
  • To help participants to identify barriers to assertive behaviour and explore communication blockers and boosters
  • To enable participants to develop a range of skills that will enable them to be more assertive

Objectives

By the end of the programme participants should be able to:

  • Identify barriers to assertive behaviour and effective communications
  • Understand the role of non-verbal communication and use this to communicate more effectively
  • Effectively use a range of techniques that will aid assertion

  • To equip participants to gain a good understanding of what anger is and how this differs from other mood disturbances, e.g. irritation, aggression
  • To help participants to understand how anger is maintained
  • To support participants to develop a range of strategies toeffectively manage their anger.

  • Understand the relationship between the different groups in the workplace
  • Effectively use a number of strategies/techniques for managing themselves in the workplace
